Zone hardening of mechanical components
Zone hardening allows the local hardening of component surfaces in areas where they are susceptible to wear. Well-chosen technological process allows avoiding dimensional deformations or change of elasticity as it would be the case with classic hardening, in which the temperature influence covers the whole heat-treated element. The economic aspect is also not without significance, as the locally supplied heating power may be much lower than in the case of the necessity to heat up the whole element.
